National Veterans Day Deals

  • Applebee’s: Veterans and active duty military members can receive a free meal from a select menu at participating locations.
  • Biscuit Belly: Veterans can eat free with the choice of Bacon Egg & Cheese, Sausage Egg & Cheese or Chicken Biscuit Sandwich and a free hot drip coffee or fountain drink.
  • Buffalo Wild Wings: Veterans and active duty military members can receive a free order of 10 boneless winds with valid ID.
  • Chicken Salad Chick: Veterans and active duty military receive a free chick meal + drink (includes scoop or sandwich, plus 1 scoop, side item, or cup of soup + regular fountain drink)
  • Chili’s: Veterans and active duty military members can receive a free meal at participating restaurants. Available in-restaurant only and with a valid ID.
  • Dunkin’: Veterans and active duty military members can receive a free donut of choice.
  • Firehouse Subs: All veterans, and active duty military can receive a FREE meal – a Medium Sub, chips or cookie, and a drink – on Veterans Day. Valid Nov. 11, 2024 ONLY in-store in military uniform or with valid military ID, at participating locations.
  • Kolache Factory: Veterans and active duty military members can receive one free kolache of any cand and one free cup of freshly brewed Katz coffee, any size, with valid ID.
  • Krispy Kreme: Veterans and active duty military members can receive a free coffee and donut at all locations.
  • Red Robin: Veterans and active duty military members can receive a free Red’s Big Tavern Burger served with bottomless fries. Offer valid for dine-in only.
  • Starbucks: Veterans, active duty military members and spouses can receive a free 12 ounce drip coffee, hot or cold.
  • Texas Roadhouse: Veterans and active duty military members will be able to receive a free meal voucher from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The voucher is usable until May, 2025.
  • Yard House: Veterans and active duty military members can receive a complimentary appetizer on Veterans Day.
  • Food Lion: Veterans and active duty military members can save 10% on in-store shopping purchases before taxes. The offer does not include alcohol, tobacco, gift cards, lottery, pharmacy, postage stamps and services. Military ID and MVP Card are required.
  • IKEA: From Nov. 10-22, veterans and active duty military members with a valid ID can receive 15% off in-store home furnishing items.
  • Target: From Oct 29 through Nov. 11, all active duty military members, veterans and their families can receive 10% off — can be used on two separate transactions and applies to all in-basket items, online and in-store.

Events & Ceremonies

Hampton

The annual Veterans Day parade in Hampton will start at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 on Mellen Street in Phoebus and proceed to Continental Park on the grounds of Fort Monroe. The parade will kick off a day of activities and events honoring veterans. The free celebration will run until 4 p.m. Click here for a schedule and other details.

Norfolk

Residents can honor the service and sacrifice of veterans during the annual Veterans Day Ceremony, scheduled to take place Monday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. at MacArthur Memorial. There will be a wreath laying ceremony, and Mayor Kenneth Cooper Alexander, Ph.D., will provide remarks.

MacArthur Memorial will be open on Veterans Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with free admission.

Portsmouth

The City of Portsmouth will hold a Veterans Day Ceremony at the High Street Landing flag pole starting at 11 a.m. The rain location will be at the City Council Chamber.

Virginia Beach

The annual Tidewater Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. at 16th Street and Atlantic Avenue. The event will conclude with the formal ceremony at the Tidewater Veterans Memorial across from the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

Closures

Hampton

City offices in Hampton will be closed on Monday, Nov. 11 for the Veterans Day holiday.

There will be no garbage collection on Monday, Nov. 11. Collections scheduled for Monday will be completed on Wednesday, Nov. 13. The yard waste site will be closed on Monday.

No street sweeping on Monday, Nov. 11. Sweeping schedule for Monday will be done on Wednesday, Nov. 13. Sweeping scheduled for Wednesday will be done on Friday, Nov. 15..

Libraries, community centers, neighborhood centers, DMV Select and courts will be closed on Monday, Nov. 11.

The carousel will be closed on Monday, Nov. 11.

Peninsula Health District and clinics will be closed on Monday, Nov. 11.

Norfolk

The City of Norfolk’s offices, including libraries, The Slover and recreation centers, will be closed on Monday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day, including the Commissioner of Revenue, City Treasurer, Norfolk Courthouse and Norfolk Animal Care Center. Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, Nov. 12.

The SPSA Norfolk Transfer Station will be open 8 a.m. to noon on Monday, Nov. 11.

Portsmouth

All City Hall officers, public libraries, museums and the Portsmouth Welcome Center will be closed Monday, Nov. 11 for Veterans Day. The Neighborhood Facility Recreation Center and Sportsplex Recreation Center will be open, but all other recreation centers will be closed.

There will be no changes to trash collection.

Williamsburg

The City of Williamsburg will observe Veterans Day on Monday, Nov. 11, 2024. All City offices will be closed.

The City Council Work Session will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12 in the Stryker Center.
The regular meeting is not affected by the holiday and will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14.
