VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Two Virginia Beach natives were on the World Series Championship team. Now, one of them is hanging up his glove.

Los Angeles Dodgers player Daniel Hudson, 37, played baseball at Princess Anne High School before playing in college at Old Dominion University. On Wednesday night, Hudson announced he was retiring from the sport.

Following his pitching at ODU, Hudson had a 15-year major league career. The first part of his career was spent with the Arizona Diamondbacks where he won a silver slugger for the best hitting pitcher in the national league in 2012.

Hudson won a world series with the Washington Nationals in 2019. He pitched in seven games during his postseason run.

The other Virginia Beach native on the Los Angeles Dodgers team for their win was Chris Taylor from Cox High School.
