RALEIGH, N.C. (WAVY) – With just over a week before election day, the Tar Heel State has surpassed two million ballots cast, according to the North Carolina State Board of Elections.

Early voting in North Carolina started on Oct. 17 and since then, over two million voters have cast their ballots for the 2024 general election — this comes to a turnout of around 26% of the state’s 7.8 million registered voters.

The breakdown of voting methods, as of 8 a.m. Thursday, can be found below:

  • In-person early voting: 1,895,314
  • Absentee (civilian): 103,945
  • Absentee (overseas): 12,974
  • Absentee (military): 3,521

One the first day of early voting alone, over 350,000 people cast their ballots, setting a record for first day turnout for North Carolina.
