CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Friday night, the Grassfield High School football team defeated Hickory High School, but that wasn’t the only thing Grizzlies fans had to cheer about.
It was a Grassfield homecoming game that was a true homecoming for one of its families, and it was a halftime show that made this Navy town proud.
From the sideline, wearing civilian clothes, Lt. Cmdr. Tatasciore of the USS New Hampshire, aka Dad, sailed in just as his children were on the 50-yard line. That’s where they were being recognized for their commitment to the JROTC program.
Once he reached the logo, Emma breaks for a tackle, and Easton is a step behind, with their little sister not far behind, all filled with unbridled joy at seeing their father for the first time in six-and-a-half months. Their mom also joins in.
Friday was Grassfield’s RED-out game, with RED standing for Remember Everyone Deployed.
It ended in a Grassfield win, 28-17, over Hickory, and a home sweet home for all USS New Hampshire families.
