VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Star of the Sea Catholic Church is preparing to hold its annual Boardwalk Eucharistic Procession at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.
A Eucharistic procession is a Catholic tradition where the Eucharist is carried through the community to share the faith with others.
During the procession, Catholics will publicly demonstrate their faith and engage with the Virginia Beach community. Those participating in the procession will say a variety of prayers during the nearly two mile walk.
Star of the Sea began hosting the processions in 2023 in response to the National Eucharistic Revival in the Catholic Church.
Other Catholic groups including Saint Gregory the Great Catholic School will also take part in the procession.
The procession takes place on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. It will begin at the church and will proceed down the boardwalk to 24th St., before returning to the parish.
