CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – A man was sentenced to over two decades in prison on Friday for possessing child sexual abuse material.
According to court documents, Shawn Piazza, 30, was found in possession of multiple devices containing photos and videos of children between the ages of 1 and 14 engaging in sexual acts with other children and adults after an investigation by the Chesapeake Police Department’s Special Victims Unit.
Detectives said they received a tip from the messaging app Kik regarding child sexual abuse material on their server. CPD investigated the tip and discovered Piazza was responsible for uploading the photos and videos.
As a result of the investigation, Piazza was charged with one count of possession of child pornography, 10 counts of possession of child pornography 2nd or subsequent offense and 10 counts distribution of child pornography.
On Thursday, Oct. 4, Piazza was sentenced to a total of 22 years in prison. Upon his release, Piazza will also have to be placed on sex offender specific probation and will be required to register as a sex offender.
