PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Portsmouth police are investigating four shootings — two of them deadly — that occurred within hours of each other Sunday.

The first shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. on the 600 block of Lancer Drive. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, 53-year-old Michael Thomas Marshall, was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.

About an hour later, officers responded to a call in the 2300 block of Elliott Avenue and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene. Police later identified the man as 33-year-old Michael Livermon.

Just before 2 a.m., police were responded to the 1100 block of London Boulevard for a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found three women suffering from injuries. One of the women had been shot and the other two were hit by a vehicle fleeing the shooting. All three of the women were rushed to the hospital to be treated for their injuries.

Around 2:49 a.m., police responded to a call for service in the 100 block of Navajo Trail. Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. However, police were not able to locate a crime scene and are trying to figure out if the injury occurred in the city.

“We are saddened by the loss of life that occurred early this morning. We are working diligently to gather all the facts related to these incidents and are asking for anyone with information to come forward to help detectives put all the pieces together,” said Police Chief Stephen Jenkins. “Our hearts go out to the families as they deal with these tragedies.
