VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A vehicle pursuit on Kempsville Road ended in a crash and an arrest, according to Virginia State Police.
Around 7 a.m. Saturday police radar clocked a 2011 Honda Accord going 99 mph in a 55 mph zone. Police began to pursue the car when the driver, 22-year-old Daniel S. Clark, of Norfolk, refused to stop.
During the pursuit, the car lost a tire and Clark swerved into the opposite lane of traffic and hit a Jeep Liberty head-on, according to VSP.
Following the crash, Clark was transported to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries. State police said charges are pending upon his release.
The driver of the Jeep Liberty, 49-year-old Antoine J. Burrus was taking an Uber customer to her destination when the crash occurred. Both Burrus and his female passenger are expected to be OK.
However, during the investigation, police learned that felony warrants had been issued for Burrus’ arrest, and he was taken to Virginia Beach City Jail.
