CAMDEN COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — A man wanted out of Virginia Beach in connection to making threats against a local Catholic school was arrested in North Carolina on Friday.
The Camden County Sheriff’s Office, with help from Currituck County’s SWAT team, took 30-year-old Bobby Dale Francisco into custody on Friday, September 13 at his home on Keeter Barn Road in South Mills.
It comes after local authorities were contacted by the Virginia Beach Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit about threats made through electronic communications to St. John the Apostle Catholic School in Virginia Beach.
Francisco was arrested without incident. During a search of the residence, potential evidence was seized and turned over to Virginia Beach authorities.
Francisco is currently being held at the Albemarle District Jail under a $1 million secured bond. He is awaiting extradition to Virginia to face charges related to the threats.
The threats against St. John led to classes being canceled on September 12 and 13. Authorities say the threat was sent after the suspect saw recent news coverage on the school. Just days before, 10 On Your Side reported that St. John suspended an 11-year-old boy who alerted his principal about another student brought a bullet to class.
