VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (WAVY) — When you make it as a professional athlete, you have people who look up to you around the world. Here in Hampton Roads, the Davis brothers are celebrities in the boxing community, and that’s shown in the fan support during their whole pro careers.

Keyshawn, Kelvin and Keon. All undefeated Professional boxing prospects, who will come back to Norfolk in November to defend home turf in the biggest boxing card Hampton Roads has seen since ‘Sweet Pea’ Pernell Whitaker fought here in 1994.

But it goes deeper than boxing. While all the brothers are incredibly talented, they want to put that talent into the next generation of aspiring boxers who look up to them.

On Sunday, September 8, the Davis brothers opened the DB3 gym at Southside Barbell in Virginia Beach. The gym is designed to teach the sweet science to whoever wants to learn from the best the area currently has to offer. Both Keyshawn and Kelvin told me how much it means to give back.

“It means the world. These are the kids that are going to stay with us for a long time. Like this is just the beginning for us. They’re going to grow up with us, with this gym. Go to the Nationals, get an opportunity to go to the Olympics, change their whole lives. That’s starting with us. Right here, today,” Keyshawn said.

“These past couple of days have been a lot just taking everything in. Seeing how much we can touch the community has been a lot.. Even today, it’s mind-blowing how we still have a crowd when we had crowds showing up for us days and days in a row. So it feels really good to know people are really behind us and they really believe us,” Kelvin said.

Keon was in Colorado for training camp, as he, Kelvin, and Keyshawn prepare for their November 8th fight card back here in Hampton Roads.

That fight will be at Scope Arena and broadcasted on TopRank ESPN/ESPN+
