VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia Beach Police are investigating a homicide involving a father and son.
On Sunday, police responded to the 3000 block of Roebling Lane after a concerned neighbor said they had not seen 66-year-old Scott Seitz in a few days.
According to court documents, the caller and another neighbor knocked on Scott’s door, but received no answer. Eventually, the two entered the home after finding an unlocked door. One of the neighbors then walked upstairs to find Scott dead, face down and “clearly bound against his will.”
Documents state once officers arrived to the scene, they found a barricaded door. Once officers entered the door, they found Scott’s son, 25-year-old Seth Seitz, with injuries to his hands and legs.
Seitz has been charged with second-degree murder, according to police.
10 On Your Side spoke with neighbors who say Scott was a nice man who would help others since he was a contractor. One neighbor who babysat Seitz as a kid said he seemed normal growing up. Another neighbor who recently moved into the area said he would see Seitz pace back and forth on the street with his hands on his head. Scott’s brother said this is still all a shock and he is still processing it all.
Police announced on September 5 that the cause of death for Scott Seitz was ligature asphyxiation, strangulation.
