NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk Fire-Rescue (NFR) said a person was rushed to the hospital after an apartment building caught on fire around midnight.

The fire happened at the Beachcomber Apartment Complex in the 200 block of West Ocean View Ave on Aug. 21.

Officials said when crews arrived, they saw a two-story apartment building engulfed in flames. By that time, the fire had spread to another apartment upgrading the incident to a second alarm fire.

“The apartment complex’s had 12 units each,” said Glen Williams, Battalion Chief. “Six units per floor of each building. Crews attacked the fire offensively and defensively using hose lines and master streams from the ladder trucks.”

Dennis Anderson, one of the people impacted by the fire, sent video of the fire, showing heavy smoke and flames coming from the building.
