Warwick Raiders Preview:
Head Coach: Corey Hairston
2023 Record: 11-2 (Lost to Maury 48-20 in Region Semifinal)
Starters returning: 8 on offense, 9 on defense
Key players: Senior Running Back/Safety Messiah Delhomme (Injured), Senior Wide Receiver’s Keon Batts and Dakota Brodus
The Raiders defense was the difference maker in the team’s success last season. Eight shutouts and only 17 points allowed in the entire regular season. This is a different looking team on offense without a few mainstays that Raiders fans were used to seeing last year.
Senior running back/safety Messiah Delhomme broke his leg in May. While there’s optimism that he could suit up at some point during this season, Warwick will have to go without a key piece of their high-powered offense.
Regardless, head coach Corey Hairston loves this current group of players, and expects to be in the state championship game this year.
“This team is lean and mean. We’ve returned a lot of people and are no longer the younger team. Quality Varsity minutes,” said Hairston
“They also coach up the young guys. The older guys definitely prepare the younger guys,” said Hairston
