PARIS, FRANCE (WRIC) — University of Virginia (UVA) swimmer Kate Douglass has won a gold medal for the women’s USA Swimming Olympic Team at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
On Thursday, Aug. 1, 22-year-old UVA swimmer Kate Douglass won a gold medal for the USA Swimming Olympic Team after winning first place in the Women’s 200-meter Breaststroke.
Douglass finished the race with a time of two minutes and 19 seconds, which was just 36 milliseconds faster than second place winner Tatjana Smith, who represents South Africa.
On Friday, Aug. 2, Douglass is slated to swim in the Women’s 200-meter Individual Medley in heat 4.
