NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The YMCA is offering a wild deal for its members this August.

The Virginia Zoo in Norfolk is partnering with the YMCA of South Hampton Roads and the Virginia Peninsulas for a “member swap.”

YMCA members will get unlimited admission to the zoo for the entire month of August, as well as a 10% discount on food and in the gift shop. In return, Virginia Zoo members can go to any of the 35 YMCA locations across the Hampton Roads region for free.

“We are delighted to partner with the Virginia Zoo to offer this unique opportunity to our
members,” said Julie Crowley, Vice President of Membership Success at the YMCA of South
Hampton Roads. “This membership swap allows families to enjoy a variety of activities and
experiences, encouraging both physical activity and an appreciation for conservation.”

Any YMCA members who decide to buy a Virginia Zoo membership in August will get two extra months for free on their zoo membership. And the Y will waive the joining fee (a savings of up to $100) for any zoo members who join the YMCA in August.

This is the sixth year the Virginia Zoo and the YMCA have participated in a membership swap.
