CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – Some motorists in Chesapeake didn’t have a peachy commute Wednesday morning.

A box truck carrying about 20,000 pounds of peaches crashed into a jersey wall on the Chesapeake Expressway early Wednesday morning, according to the Chesapeake Fire Department.

Crews were dispatched to the Chesapeake Expressway north of the overpass bridge around 7:30 a.m. for reports of a vehicle accident.

Photos of the incident show the box truck stuck on one of the jersey walls and crews working to remove the load in order to move the truck from the wall.

An investigation revealed the truck experienced a mechanical failure, causing it to crash into the jersey wall.

The crash caused southbound lanes of the Chesapeake Expressway to temporarily close while crews worked to clear the road.

No injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
