NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A woman was seriously hurt after a domestic-related stabbing in Norfolk Friday morning, police say.

That makes two shootings and a stabbing in adjacent neighborhoods, Calvert Square and Young Terrace, in a three-day period this week.

The stabbing happened around 10 a.m. in the 300 block of Nicholson Street, in the Young Terrace area. The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, police said in a tweet.

Another woman was detained at the scene, but police have not said if she’s considered a suspect.

“Stabbing — I hope nobody comes for me cause I’m disabled,” said Richard Shepherd, who has lived in Young Terrace for the past seven years.

Shepherd said the women did not live at that address, but did live nearby.

In the Wednesday shooting during a Juneteenth celebration, a woman was taken to the hospital but was not seriously hurt.

In the Thursday triple shooting nearby, Police have identified the man who was killed as Javid Williams, 19. A 29-year-old man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

“It’s ridiculous,” Shepherd said. “A lot of violence going on around these streets. You don’t feel safe no more. Everybody’s buying guns, but I don’t agree with the guns.”

Shepherd has a message for his neighbors about a better way to settle their differences.

“They need to put the guns down. They need to put the guns down, all of them,” he said, repeating himself in a much louder voice for anyone within earshot. “They taught us to use these,” he said, gesturing with his raised fists. “You’ll live another day.”

Norfolk Police have identified the victim who was killed in Thursday’s deadly shooting in Calvert Square, but they’re still looking for the shooter. If you have any information you can call the Crime Line at 1-888 LOCK-U-UP or use the P3tips app.
