NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – The Newport News Police Department is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash which occurred on Wednesday.
Officers responded to the area of Saunders Road and Spring Trace Lane at 3:40 a.m. on June 5 for reports of a single-vehicle crash.
Officers arrived to the scene and found 29-year-old Christopher Cooper dead at the scene.
A WAVY 10 viewer sent a photo of the incident, showing an overturned car.
An investigation revealed the vehicle went into a ditch and then struck a driveway embankment, leading to the vehicle flipping several times.
Newport News police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
