NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — One man is dead and another is hurt in Newport News on Sunday evening after a shooting, police said.
Around 5:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to North Trellis Court in reference to a shooting.
Upon arrival, they found a man with at least one gunshot wound which appeared to be non life-threatening. Another man with a gunshot wound appeared to have life-threatening injuries. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for care. The victim with life-threatening injuries, 21-year-old Zair Grenade, died at the hospital.
Detectives are canvassing the area and Forensics is on scene. There is no suspect information at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.
