(WAVY) — When Old Dominion’s opens up its new football stadium in August, it will play what is arguably its toughest schedule since bringing back football in 2009.

ODU opens at home on August 31 against Norfolk State.

Following that, the Monarchs play back-to-back road games against ACC teams when they travel to Blacksburg on September 7 to take on Virginia Tech followed by a game in Charlottesville against the University of Virginia.

The Monarchs then return home to take one East Carolina of the American Athletic Conference.

ODU opens Conference USA play at home on October 5 against Western Kentucky, then its consecutive road games against Marshall and league champion UAB.
