The rain kept coming yesterday. It was heavy at times. I didn’t even walk the dog. We had numerous areas with standing water. It was in back yards, it was on some roads, it was all over.
There were still a few downpours during the afternoon, but it had lightened up by the evening.
The rain moved out by the later evening. Then we had clearing skies. Before the rain wrapped up it had put down about 2-3″ in the area. We were actually lucky that we didn’t have another inch.
Norfolk picked up 3.21 inches. This puts us up to about 7 inches above average for the month and year for rainfall.
However, we came up a bit short to be the wettest March on record. We ended up with 10.29″.
So 1994 still stands as the wettest. Well….it feels this March was the wettest. Anyway, all that is long gone. The cool front and the area of low pressure that were the focus for the rain are now both far offshore.
We’ll be much drier today. Dew points have dropped to the 20s and 30s. High pressure is to our southwest, but it is sliding east. We started off the day with lots of sunshine.
However, we’ll have some scattered clouds dropping from northwest to southeast. This is from a weak upper level disturbance. This feature could also create a couple of sprinkles or showers between the late morning and early afternoon. The chance for precip is only about 5-10%. So it’s not even on the 7-Day forecast. It will be a little breezy. Winds will gust up to 20-25mph out of the west/northwest for a time. High temps will rise up to the low to mid 60s.
I’d say overall it will be a nice day. It should be nice weather for the home opener of the Norfolk tides.
It will be a bit breezy. So be sure to take a jacket.
Tomorrow’s weather will be even better. We’ll be mostly to partly sunny with high temperatures rising into the low 70s.
We’ll have a light southwest breeze. There will be some isolated showers north of the metro in the early evening, but most areas will miss out on them. The weather still looks good for Easter Sunday. We’ll be dry in the morning for service and Easter egg hunts.
High temps will be in the low 70s during the afternoon. We’ll be partly cloudy. There may be some isolated showers returning by the early evening. There will be some scattered showers on Monday, but the temps don’t look cooler anymore. Highs will be near 70 degrees. Then we’ll be in the mid 70s on Tuesday. That’s a big change from yesterday’s forecast. There may be some isolated showers, but it looks like there will be a good amount of rain next Wednesday. There may also be a few thunderstorms. Stay tuned for updates on that. Until then have a great Easter weekend!
