VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Naval Air Station (NAS) Oceana announced on Tuesday morning the theme for the upcoming 2024 air show.
The NAS Oceana Air Show is scheduled to take place from Sept. 21-22, and will feature the Navy’s flight demonstration team, the Blue Angels, the F-35C Lightning Demonstration Team and the F-22 Raptor Demonstration Team.
This year’s theme is ‘Inspire. Educate. Soar!’
“Our theme celebrates the young minds we hope to inspire through unparalleled flight demonstrations and hundreds of interactive STEM education engagements available for all to enjoy during the air show,” NAS Oceana executive officer Capt. Josh Appezzato said.
The NAS Oceana Air Show, which partners with Virginia Beach City Schools and Chesapeake Public Schools, aims to create a one-of-a-kind hands-on STEM Laboratory.
Thousands of fifth graders from the area will get to experience the air show’s practice day on Sept. 20 as a part of the STEM Education Field Trip.
“The NAS Oceana Air Show is a way for us to encourage the next generation of leaders, because you never know who will walk away from that special weekend believing that they, too, can dream big and Fly Navy,” NAS Oceana commanding officer Capt. Steve Djunaedi said.
The air show is open and free to the public. The performance schedule will be announced closer to the event.
All spectators over the age of 18 must present a physical photo ID to gain access to this year’s air show.
