CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — 45-year-old Johnnie Warner III was sentenced on March 22 to 26 years in prison for first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Warner was found guilty back in September 2023 for the January 2022 murder.

The sentence stems from an offense that occurred on Jan. 26, 2022, in the South Norfolk section
of the city. Around 6:45 p.m. in the 2500 block of Lanier Street, officers arrived on the scene and found 42-year-old Lavance Flora with a gunshot wound.

After a brief investigation, police recovered ring doorbell video footage that showed Warner shoot the victim four times, according to previous coverage.

The victim is survived by his lifelong partner, Amber Warner; his two sons Lavance Flora Jr. and
Elija Flora; his brother, Dormance Flora; and many other loved ones.
