RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — One Baker’s Crust Artisan Kitchen location in Richmond is permanently closing its doors after serving breakfasts, lunches, dinners and desserts to the community for 26 years.
According to a spokesperson for the restaurant, the Baker’s Crust Artisan Kitchen located at 3553 W. Cary St. permanently closed its doors on Sunday, March 3. This location is no longer listed on the company’s website.
Luckily, for those who have a hankering for Neapolitan pizzas, crepes or buttermilk biscuits, Baker’s Crust has eight other locations, most in the Hampton Roads region. There are two locations in Virginia Beach, one in Chesapeake and one in Norfolk.
According to the restaurant, the first Baker’s Crust opened for business in a 3,000-square-foot storefront located in the Hilltop North Shopping Center, about three miles away from Virginia Beach’s Oceanfront, in October 1993.
The Virginia Beach location was the only facility that baked all of the breads, pastries and desserts for three locations that were open at the time. However, to keep up with the demand, a 4,600-square-foot production facility was built on Cary Street, according to the restaurant.
