PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Police searching for suspect who allegedly assaulted a 7-Eleven clerk and stole cigarettes before fleeing in Portsmouth, police said.

On Feb. 19, around 9:50 p.m., the suspect entered the 7-Eleven on 600 Frederick Blvd., and went directly behind the counter to steal cigarettes. The man told the clerk, “Move out of the way, I don’t want to hurt you,” police said.

He then proceeded to take several boxes of cigarettes and assaulted the clerk before fleeing.

The suspect can be seen wearing a black beanie, a dark jacket, faded blue jeans and a dark beard.
