HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – The oldest quilt festival on the Eastern Seaboard is making its return to Hampton Roads in February.

The Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival is returning for the 35th year from Feb. 28-March 3 at the Hampton Roads Convention Center.

“We’re thrilled that we’re celebrating 35 years with the quilting community here in Virginia, Mancuso Show Management Owner and President David Mancuso said. “Our journey continues. And, as we all know, it’s about the journey.”

The festival was originally started in Delaware by Mancuso Show Management, a Pennsylvania based company that produces public shows in the quilting and sewing industry.

Over 1000 quilts, wearables and textile works of art are expected to be on display at the festival through competitions and exhibits.

Some events scheduled for this year’s Quilt Festival include a variety of workshops and lectures, game nights, fashion shows as well as the Quilt Festival Merchants Mall.

The theme for this year’s festival is “Reflection,” encouraging participants to reflect on positive memories and the joyfulness of their years of quilting. There will also be a modern category featured in the festival, themed “Mid-Century Mod.”
