NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A man was shot to death in Newport News on Saturday, police said.
Newport News police were dispatched around 7:40 p.m. to the 1100 block of 35th Street in reference to a Shotspotter activation.
Upon arrival, police found 38-year-old Jave Irvin Edwards outside suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Edwards was taken to a local hospital for care where he later died from his injuries.
At this time there is no suspect information.
