NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — James Arthur Scott, 33, was convicted after receiving two kilograms of cocaine in the mail.
Scott was waiting in a parking lot in Hampton for over an hour receive a delivery from California to be delivered to “Lit Wick,” according to court documents. However, law enforcement agents intercepted the parcel at a UPS facility in Newport News, and discovered cocaine hidden inside the wax of two shoeboxes.
After a controlled delivery, Scott received the goods and placed them inside a rental car. A vehicle takedown uncovered the two kilograms of cocaine found on Scott’s front seat. Scott had received at least four additional deliveries in the same manner to be delivered to “Lit Wick.”
He was convicted of possession with the intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine. He faces a mandatory minimum of five years and a max of 40 years in prison when he faces sentencing on June 4.
