CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Exactly one year has passed since the Walmart shooting tragedy in Chesapeake. Six people were killed inside the store on Sam’s Circle on Nov. 22, 2022.

The Walmart Supercenter, where the mass shooting took place, will close at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023 to give store associates time and space to reflect and grieve.

The store at 1521 Sam’s Circle Drive reopened earlier this year with a memorial honoring the victims and others impacted by the tragedy. There is a special place of rest and reflection where the community is invited to stop and visit.

Other Walmart stores in the Hampton Roads area will be open during regular business hours from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

All Walmart stores will be closed Thanksgiving Day and will reopen the next day at 6 a.m.
