SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Two people are dead after a crash in Suffolk. It happened on Route 58 eastbound between the weigh station and the Chesapeake city line, police say.

According to police, it appears that one of the drivers was traveling the wrong way and collided with the other vehicle in the eastbound lane.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue tweeted about the crash at 8:20 a.m. Sunday, but said the crash happened overnight.

Three other people were taken to the hospital in total. Two of those victims, 32-year-old Chavez Holden of Bloxom and 31-year-old Demarkus Thornton, died.

The crash remains under investigation.
