CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – Police are investigating after B.M. Williams Primary School in Chesapeake received its second bomb threat this week.

According to police, the Chesapeake Police Department was made aware of the bomb threat around 12:14 p.m. at the school located at 1100 N. Battlefield Blvd.

A spokesperson for the Chesapeake Fire Department says the threat was received via email around 12:09 p.m. The message was similar to the threat sent to the school Tuesday, which resulted in an early dismissal for students.

Officials say the school was placed on a level 1 lockdown while the building was searched. A spokesperson for Chesapeake Public Schools says they sent the following message to families:

Good afternoon.  This is Chris Vail, Director of Communications for Chesapeake Public Schools, with an important message for B.M. Williams Primary School.

This afternoon we received another anonymous email with a bomb threat. Authorities have been present at the school all day and the building has been closely monitored since yesterday’s incident. The Fire Marshal and police are investigating the concern and the building has been placed in a level one lockdown as a precaution while the building is being assessed.

We anticipate there will be no changes to our dismissal routine or time.  Again, please follow your normal routine to assist with a smooth dismissal.  Afterschool programs will continue as planned.

Thank you for your continued support.

Police and fire officials did not find anything in the school.

The Chesapeake Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating the bomb threat.
