Police say they received the first complaint in April 2022 from a customer who said she was sexually assaulted during a massage at Wine & Unwind on Virginia Beach Blvd. near 1st Street.

The complaint started a months-long investigation, and last week police arrested 28-year-old Malik Williams of Hampton.

He is accused in the sexual assault of multiple women during massage appointments and is facing five counts aggravated sexual battery, two counts object sexual penetration and three counts sexual assault.

Williams is currently out on bond. He no longer works at Wine & Unwind. 10 On Your Side spoke with his former boss there. She said she never received complaints from Williams’ massage clients. She said her entire staff is shocked by the arrest.

So are Williams’ friends.

“I don’t want to take away from anybody when it comes to this subject, but in terms of him, I honestly don’t believe he would do anything like that,” said Aris Love, who went to high school with Williams.

“I don’t believe the allegations are true. It’s not in Malik’s character,” said another friend, who wished to remain anonymous.

Friends tell 10 On Your Side Williams has a 5-year-old son.

Detectives believe there could be additional victims. If you suspect you may have been a victim of Williams or if you have any information about potential crimes associated with this case, please contact the VBPD Special Victims Unit at (757) 385-4101.
