CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Police in Chesapeake say a man is charged with murdering his father in a domestic dispute on Sunday.
Chesapeake police said there was call around 9 a.m. reporting a person that had died in the 3400 block of West Landing Drive.
A police spokesperson said Tuesday that 73-year-old Richard Haynes was killed by his son, 49-year-old Stephen Haynes.
Richard Haynes was pronounced dead after authorities arrived on scene. His death was ruled a homicide and officers subsequently took his son into custody, police said.
Police said Monday that Stephen Haynes was charged with second-degree murder.
