UPDATE: Norfolk Police say Torie Benns has been arrested Saturday morning.


NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Police in Norfolk are investigating a bank robbery that happened Friday afternoon in the Ghent neighborhood.

According to police, the robbery happened around 1:30 p.m. at the Bank of America in the 1900 block of Colonial Avenue, near 20th Street.

Polie said a man entered the bank and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk complied and then the man fled the scene. There were no injuries reported.

Officers asked for the public’s help in identifying the following man believed to be the suspect:

Police said Friday night they believe the suspect is Torie Derron Benns aka Torio, 42, of the 5100 block of E. Virginia Beach Boulevard.

There is a robbery warrant for Benns in connection with the incident Friday.
