NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Authorities say they’ve detained a person of interest after an Amazon truck was stolen Wednesday in Norfolk.
Norfolk Police confirm they were contacted around noon after the vehicle was stolen in the 300 block of Nicholson Street. That’s in the Young Terrace neighborhood off E. Virginia Beach Blvd.
Police were still searching for the suspect as of 1:15 p.m., but had recovered the vehicle.
Just before 2 p.m., police said they had a person of interest in custody. It remains an active investigation, though.
WAVY News 10 reached out to Amazon for a statement about the incident. Spokesperson Loni Monroe replied, “We’re happy that our Delivery Associate was not injured during this incident, all of the packages were safely recovered and delivered to customers. We’re working with the local authorities while they complete their investigation.”
