CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Chesapeake police are investigating the second homicide at the same house in just over a week.
The latest shooting happened Sunday in the 2000 block of Pond Lane around 4:40 p.m. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound inside a house.
The man, 28-year-old Chesapeake resident Davon Person, was pronounced dead on the scene.
An initial investigation revealed that Person was shot outside the house and went into the house before police arrived on the scene.
Someone shot 31-year-old Glen Lewis at the same home at 8:30 in the morning on Friday, July 16.
Person’s cousin, Justin Gregory, lives down the street and heard the gunfire.
He told WAVY, “I always talk about this black on black crime it’s gotta stop somewhere somehow cause if not everybody’s loved ones are gonna start perishing from here and I know that’s going to bring a lot of hurt and heartache to a lot of families.”
Chesapeake police said that detectives are looking into whether the homicides are connected. They also said that the 2nd Precinct has created a Violent Crimes Interdiction Unit to target incidences such as this.
Police said they are working with the Campostella Square League of Advocates, a civic league in the area, to community outreach.
Investigators are requesting the public’s assistance for information on a vehicle of interest, described as a black Mercedes SUV.
