(NEXSTAR/STORYFUL) — Lightning flashed behind the Eiffel Tower as thunderstorms swept across the city Thursday, causing disruption to Olympic games.

Footage posted to Instagram by @valentin__b shows stormy conditions and crowds of people around the famous landmark. They told Storyful they were leaving a volleyball game when they filmed the video.

According to Le Parisien, the thunderstorms interrupted a 3×3 basketball game between France and Serbia, as well as the China-USA beach volleyball game.

Another 3×3 basketball game between the USA and Lithuania was also postponed on Thursday.

The delays at Thursday’s games were the latest in a slew of weather-related challenges; the men’s triathlon event was postponed by a day after the water quality in the river Seine did not meet the required standards, following heavy rain last weekend.

An orange warning was issued for the region on Friday and Saturday, according to France’s weather agency.
